UnSub - The Where? When? How? EP

And that brings to a close the 2nd EP from UnSub. You know the score by now, the tracks can be individually downloaded via the soundcloud player or if you prefer, all 6 tracks are here for you to download for free, along with cover art, in one handy .rar file. Oh the joys of simplicity! And if you're all good boys and girls there may be a 3rd EP winging it's way to you soon...

UnSub - The Where When How EP Back Cover

Enjoy.

Nine Inch Nails - Something I Can Never Have (Ghost Mix)

And bringing up the rear is this 7 minute monster using all sorts of stuff from Nine Inch Nails, including Something I Can Never Have, Something I Can Never Have (Still Version) and lots of various sounds and samples from the Ghosts I-IV album. Couldn't *quite* get the ending to work, the transition from the normal version of the song to the still version is a bit too noticable for UnSub's liking but overall he is very happy with this.

Nine Inch Nails - Something I Can Never Have (Ghost Mix) by UnSub

Eminem Vs Queens Of The Stone Age - No One Knows My Name

Ah Queens Of The Stone Age, back when they used to be good. And it pains me to say that, it really does, they were one of my favourite bands at one point. This is No One Knows, off of probably their last great album (been a few good songs since then but overall - meh) mashed with My Name Is by Eminem.

Eminem Vs Queens Of The Stone Age - No One Knows My Name by UnSub

Rob Dougan Vs The Fresh Prince - A Summer Death

Couldn't get this one uploaded to soundcloud (the Rob Dougan song is causing the prob, damn copyright fucks) so in the meantime, until the mp3 is posted here, here it is on Youtube. This is a mash of Clubbed To Death by Rob Dougan and Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince.

Blur Vs Limp Bizkit - Give Me A Song 2 Break

One of the only truly decent songs Limp Bizkit has done, a fantastically angry song, although Fred Durst is still a little too whiny for my liking. I get never-ending amusement from the fact that he's trying to be all butch and tough and angry and sweary and naughty but his voice usually sounds like that of a nine year old soprano choirboy who has just been kicked in the balls by an agitated donkey. Twice. He is a decent shouter though when he makes the effort and he seems to be making the effort for most of Break Stuff, so (red) hats off to him for that. This is Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit mashed with Song 2 by Blur.

Blur Vs Limp Bizkit - Give Me A Song 2 Break by UnSub

Linkin Park Vs Eminem - Paperman

First of 2 appearances on this EP for Eminem, although his second appearance is minute so he gets to be on there twice, damn EP hog! This is Papercut by Linkin Park and Superman by Eminem.

Linkin Park Vs Eminem - Paperman by UnSub

The Prodigy Vs Marilyn Manson - Baby Shit

And so onto the 2nd EP of mashes from my good chum UnSub. First up is Baby's Got A Temper by The Prodigy mashed with This Is The New Shit by Marilyn Manson. I'm sure he only chose these 2 tracks to mash so he could come up with that catchy title.

Enjoy.

Will Smith - Men In Black (The Karma To Burn Five Mix)

Oh yeah, you read that right. It's time for some Big Willie Style! God that gave me so much childish joy when he started calling himself Big Willie, I stopped developing mentally at about 13 I think. Always had a soft spot for Will Smith though, no matter how many shitty records and movies he makes. The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air bought him a lot of goodwill with me. And Summertime is aces. UnSub made a mash-up using Summertime though (keep an eye out for that, will probably be posted soon), the bastard, so here's Men In Black mashed with Five by Karma To Burn.

Will Smith - Men In Black (The Karma To Burn Five Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Nas feat. Puff Daddy - Hate Me Now (The Karma To Burn Thirty One Mix)

Another appearance here from the Puffster. Don't worry though, his contribution to this song is minimal. So here's Hate Me Now by Nas and Puffy mashed with Thirty One by Karma To Burn.

Nas feat. Puff Daddy - Hate Me Now (The Karma To Burn Thirty One Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Cypress Hill & Wyclef - Boom Biddy Bye Bye (The Karma To Burn Three Mix)

Never had much time for Wyclef, even before he fucked up the career of Canibus. He was dead to me after that. You motherfuckin' spoiled it! Grrrr. I do like me some Cypress Hill though, one of the few rap outfits to do some decent rap/rock stuff. So here's Boom Biddy Bye Bye (the Fugees remix) mashed with Three by Karma To Burn.

Cypress Hill & Wyclef - Boom Biddy Bye Bye (The Karma To Burn Three Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Puff Daddy - It's All About The Benjamins (The Karma To Burn Thirteen Mix)

Yeah I know this particular Puffy song already got the rock remix treatment by Dave Grohl but I was all pissed off with that cos the only version available was a shitty censored version which meant about half of the lyrics were missing. Not even Rob Zombie screaming all over it could save it. So here's my effort at a rock remix of It's All About The Benjamins (complete with naughty words, sadly minus Rob Zombie), lovingly mashed with Thirteen by Karma To Burn.

Puff Daddy - It's All About The Benjamins (The Karma To Burn Thirteen Mix) by BeardFaceMan

House Of Pain - Jump Around (The Karma To Burn Forty Six Mix)

Ah, Jump Around by House Of Pain, a classic. And what better way to treat a classic then by completely changing it? Sorry to get rid of all your hard work Mr Muggs. Here's Jump Around mashed with Forty Six by Karma To Burn.

House Of Pain - Jump Around (The Karma To Burn Forty Six Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Canibus - Get Retarded (The Karma To Burn Thirty Nine Mix)

I promised you a third EP of these tracks, and holy shitting crikey that's what you're gonna get. Kicking off with my favourite of the lot, a mash of Get Retarded by Canibus and Thirty Nine by Karma To Burn.

UnSub - The Who What Why EP Back Cover

Enjoy.

Fear Factory Vs Will Smith - The Metal Prince Of Bel-Air

Ah The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, damn fine TV show. There is a bit of a story behind this song which can can read about here while watching the youtube video. Some say that this song was Will Smith's last effort at metal before turning his back on the genre and concentrating on rap, changing his name from The Metal Prince to The Fresh Prince, others say that this is a result of UnSub mashing up the Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air theme song with Full Metal Contact by Fear Factory and then dicking about and making a silly video. You be the judge!

Fear Factory Vs Will Smith - The Metal Prince Of Bel-Air by UnSub

Nine Inch Nails - Close To Perfection

This track was the result of a request for UnSub to mash up Nine Inch Nails with, um, Nine Inch Nails. He's always open to requests though, drop him a line if you have something you'd like done. So here is a mash of The Perfect Drug and Closer, both by Nine Inch Nails.

Nine Inch Nails - Close To Perfection by UnSub

Cypress Hill Vs Slayer - An Insane Ensemble

Yep, you read that right, that cheeky little UnSub has gone and mashed together Insane In The Brain by Cypress Hill and War Ensemble by Slayer.

Cypress Hill Vs Slayer - An Insane Ensemble by UnSub

Pendulum Vs Linkin Park - A New Immunization

UnSub was happy with how this mash-up turned out because he had never heard the Linkin Park song that he used in this mash, and didn't hear the full song until after the mash was completed. He stopped paying attention Linkin Park because he had a problem with the guitarist and those stupid fucking headphones he insists on wearing all the time. Said guitarist also did an interview with a guitar magazine where he refused to participate in a photoshoot where he was to destroy a guitar incase he hurt himself. How rock'n'roll! And me personally, I find the rapper a bit crap, I'd listen to their stuff more if it was just the singer, he's quite good. And that has nothing to do with me having a soft spot for the singer after he appeared in both Crank movies. Anyhoo, here's a mash by the lovely UnSub of A New Divide by Linkin Park and Immunize by Pendulum.

Pendulum Vs Linkin Park - A New Immunization by UnSub

Mr Oizo & Gaspard Auge Vs Slipknot - The Psycho Express

Next up is this delightful little ditty comprising of Tricycle Express by Mr Oizo & Gaspard Auge and Psychosocial by Slipknot. Tricycle Express is from the film Rubber, written and directed by Mr Ozio himself,  which I urge everyone to check out if you haven't already, it really is great. How can you not love a film about a telepathic killer car tyre called Robert? Cool soundtrack too.

The Prodigy Vs Eminem - Breathe With(out) Me

So while I'm finishing up the 3rd KTB Vs BFM EP (only one more track to go mash fans!) I thought I'd share with you some tracks done by my good chum UnSub. These following 6 tracks are from UnSub's (or Unknown Subject to give him his full name. He's so mysterious!) first EP entitled The Who? What? Why? EP. First up is a mash of Breathe by The Prodigy and Without Me by Eminem.

Keep your eyes peeled for KTB Vs BFM - The EP III - The Return Of The Curse Of The Creature's Ghost. Coming soon...

2pac & Dr Dre - California Love (The Karma To Burn Forty Two Mix)

Was never a fan of 2pac, can't quite put my finger on why. Preferred his acting to his rapping, Gridlock'd is a favourite film of mine. No denying the greatness of this song though. So here's California Love by 2pac & Dr Dre and Forty Two by Karma To Burn.

2pac & Dr Dre - California Love (The Karma To Burn Forty Two Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Pras Michel feat. ODB & Maya - Ghetto Superstar (The Karma To Burn Ten Mix)

Had to do a bit of cheating with this one, see if you can spot what I did. Gah, this mash drove me fucking mad but I can be a stubborn bastard so by the time I'd worked out what the problem was I was determined to sort it out and make a half-decent mash when it would have been easier to scrap the idea of mixing these two tunes. Like Mastermind, I'd started so I was going to damn well finish. Here's Ghetto Superstar by Pras Michel feat. ODB & Maya and Ten by Karma To Burn.

Pras Michel feat. ODB & Maya - Ghetto Superstar (The Karma To Burn Ten Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Warren G & Nate Dogg - Regulate (The Karma To Burn Eight Mix)

Some good ol' G Funk for you. Ah Nate Dogg, you're gonna be missed fella. There was a point in time when this guy was seemingly on every rap album released. And rightly so too, he was great. Here's Regulate by Warren G & Nate Dogg mashed with Eight by Karma To Burn.

Warren G & Nate Dogg - Regulate (The Karma To Burn Eight Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Bubba Sparxxx - Ugly (The Karma To Burn Twenty Six Mix)

I love the beat to Bubba Sparxxx's Ugly. I love it so much that I replaced with a beat I love even more, which would be Twenty Six by Karma To Burn. I'm pretty pleased with this one.

Bubba Sparxxx - Ugly (The Karma To Burn Twenty Six Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Canibus - 2000 B.C. (Before Can-I-Bus) (The Karma To Burn Thrity Six Mix)

Ah I love Canibus, so different, rapping about planets and shit. Awesome stuff. God knows why he didn't blow up, probably cos his first album, while although lyrically fantastic, sounded like the beats were recorded inside of a freshly laid turd. Motherfuckin' Wyclef spoiled it! So in celebration of his greatness, here's 2000 BC mashed with Thirty Six by Karma To Burn.

Canibus - 2000 B.C. (Before Can-I-Bus) (The Karma To Burn Thrity Six Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Method Man - Release Yo' Delf (The Karma To Burn One Mix)

On to EP number two then. I had such fun doing the first task that I set myself of doing a 6 track EP that I decided to do another one. And there's a third one in the works too. So here's the first track from the second EP, a mash of Release Yo' Delf by Method Man and One by Karma To Burn.

N.W.A - Chin Check (The Karma To Burn Thirty Mix)

I used to like me a bit of rap back in the day and NWA was my first taste of gangsta rap. It totally blew my mind, I'd never heard anything like that before. I would have been about 13 or 14 when Straight Outta Compton came out and a friend gave me a tape of it, saying "You have to hear this!". And I am white so of course I loved it, listening to it on my my walkman when my parents had gone to bed. Happy days. This is one of their later (last?) efforts, Chin Check, mashed with Thirty by the ever-awesome Karma To Burn.

N.W.A - Chin Check (The Karma To Burn Thirty Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Eminem - My Name Is (The Karma To Burn Twenty Eight Mix)

Ah Eminem, what a breath of fresh air he was for me when I first heard his stuff. Instead of rapping about how many diamond and platinum necklaces he had, smoking weed and how many women he had shagged he was rapping about doing mushrooms, getting beat up and wanking cos he hadn't had a woman for so long. Nice and different, I liked it. So here's My Name Is by Eminem (not my favourite Eminem track by a long way, one of my least favourite singles of his in fact, I wasn't a big fan of the beat) and Twenty Eight by Karma To Burn.

Eminem - My Name Is (The Karma To Burn Twenty Eight Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby (The Karma To Burn Seven Mix)

Now this one was done for shits'n'giggles but I was quite pleased with how it turned out. But I'm big enough of a man to admit I used to love Ice Ice Baby back in the day, I still have Vanilla Ice's To The Extreme album on cassette here somewhere. To all you young people reading this who have no clue what I'm on about, go and google "cassette" and see what we had to put up with pre-internet. Yes there was a time in human history when the internet didn't exist, as terrifying a thought as that is. So this is Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby and Seven by Karma To Burn.

Luniz - I Got 5 On It (The Karma To Burn Thirty Four Mix)

One of my favourite ones this, this was probably the track that really got me into doing mash-ups rather than just doing one or two of them for fun cos I was bored. A mash of I Got 5 On It by Luniz (the no swearing version unfortunately) and Thirty Four by Karma To Burn.

Dr Dre - Forgot About Dre (The Karma To Burn Thirty Two Mix)

Next up is Forgot About Dre by Dr Dre & Eminem and Thirty Two by Karma To Burn. Yeah, I know what you're thinking - "Wait a moment! This is from an album called 2001 that was released in 1999 and is therefore after 1997!". Well I did say "I rarely listen to stuff that was made after about 1997" so I think I covered myself nicely. Now and again you do find a diamond in amongst all the shit. So there.

Ol' Dirty Bastard - Shimmy Shimmy Ya (The Karma To Burn Twenty Nine Mix)

OK then, here we go. May as well start off at the beginning with the very first mash-up I ever did, which would have been about 2 years ago now. But first a little bit on info on my inspiration.

I love heavy guitar music. Rock, metal, punk, whatever you want to call it, if it has loud guitars and/or distortion and a bit of fucking attitude then I'm there. I also love me some hip hop. Not so much new stuff, I rarely listen to stuff that was made after about 1997 but for a 10 year period up to that point the stuff being released was amazing. New stuff just bores me, I feel like I've heard it before. It gets tedious very quickly hearing about mutlimillionaire rappers banging on about how street they are while they live in their mansions as far away from the street as they can possibly get, boasting about how great they are, how much cash they have and how many ladies they've loved. Yaaaaaaaawn, give me something new.

So although there were efforts at a rap/rock hybrid kinda style before the early/mid ninties, some great, some shite, it wasn't until '92/93-ish that it really started to take off. And I was in heaven. My two favourite musical styles being mixed togther, what could be better than that? Well, quite a lot as it turns out. Because it's a sad fact that 95% of rap/rock out there is fucking garbage. And this annoyed me because as a genre it had the potential to be great. So I thought I'd try and redress the balance a bit and make some mash-ups of rock tunes and rap vocals.

I'm a big fan of the band Karma To Burn who do mostly instrumental songs so I thought I'd have a go at mashing some rap tunes to their stuff. I had the idea of making a 6 track EP. But I got so into it and pleased with the results I ended up making a 2nd EP. And now I'm halfway through making my 3rd. So for your enjoyment here is the first tune I ever did. It's a mash-up of Shimmy Shimmy Ya by Ol' Dirty Bastard and Twenty Nine by Karma To Burn (cos their songs are instrumentals they just name them in the order that they wrote them).

Ol' Dirty Bastard - Shimmy Shimmy Ya (The Karma To Burn Twenty Nine Mix) by BeardFaceMan

Hello You!

Hello there and welcome to my blog. I've always loved me some music and listen to it a lot, a bit too much in fact (as you can see - http://www.last.fm/user/BeardFaceMan). I've played the guitar for years but I'm utter shit so I'm trying my hand at using my PC as my musical weapon by making mixes and mash-ups of songs. I don't have the creative ability to produce original tunes of my own so I thought I'd have a go at bastardizing somebody else's creations. And bastardize them I have. So come dear listener (that's you) on a trip with me that involves not actually going anywhere. Just click your mouse a few times and let my (lack of) musical skills wash over you like a big dirty wave. And of course all these tracks are downloadable, for your pleasure. Or for you to use to annoy people you don't like.
